‘1,277 Nigerians evacuated from CAR’

The Federal Government through its National Emergency Management Agency, on Sunday, said it had so far evacuated 1,277 Nigerians from the crisis ridden Central African Republic. It said the 1,277 evacuees were flown into Nigeria between Friday and Sunday.
 
The evacuees, who were received by the Director-General, NEMA, Mr. Sani Sidi and officials of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja in three batches.
 
Sidi told the evacuees that food and other necessary items were available for them at the Hajj Camp, adding that contacts had been made with the government of their various states of origin to convey them home.
 
According to the list of the registered evacuees, most of them are indigenes of Bauchi, Edo, Jigawa, Kebbi, Borno, Ekiti, and Anambra states.
 
Others are from Sokoto, Kwara, Adamawa, Gombe Nassarawa, Delta, Zamfara, Abuja, Akwa Ibom, Benue, Abia, Enugu, Kano, Imo and Kaduna states.
