Akpabio boasts on 2015, says PDP ’ll win
The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, Chief  Godswill Akpabio, has assured Nigerians of total victory for the party in 2015 general elections if the PDP faithful in Imo State are united.
 
Akpabio, who stated this Saturday at the PDP sensitization rally held at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Imo State  to receive defectors from All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to PDP, noted that the party did not lose election in 2007 but lost calculation, promising of total victory for the party in 2015. The chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum who is also the governor of Akwa Ibom State stated that to ensure  total victory  for the PDP, the party faithful must live in unity and contribute to the development of Imo State by being good supporters of noble cause provided by the party to change the fortune of the state.
 
He said the party had realised its mistake and determined to ensure PDP is returned to Imo State in the future. A former governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa, said his decision to return to PDP  was necessitated  by the wishes of his supporters, and promised to deliver Imo State to PDP at all levels in the 2015 general elections. The National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, described the return of founding members of PDP in the state as a clear testimony of a new dawn in the political sphere of the party.
 
Mu’azu, who described PDP as the winning party in the country, urged party members to work together for the success of the party in 2015. Those who returned to PDP include Chief Achike Udenwa; Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, former Senator in the state;  Senator Christy Anyanwu and Chief Mike Ahamba. Also, President Goodluck Jonathan has described the Peoples Democratic Party as the hub which democracy in Nigeria revolves. He stated this at the PDP Sensitization Rally in Imo State. “There would be no democracy in Nigeria without the PDP. The Peoples Democratic Party is the only political party in Nigeria that follows democratic principles and the rule of law. It is the only party that can unite this country,” he noted.
 
Jonathan further described PDP as the only political party in Nigeria with consistent policies and principles, saying “Since we started PDP in 1999; the name has not changed, the logo has not changed and slogan has not changed. “We are here because some of us who for one reason or the other stepped aside have stepped back to the party.
