The wife of the Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties in the Governor’s Office, Mrs. Theresa Sakpra, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen along Delta Steel
Company (DSC) Expressway in Udu Local Government Area while she was returning from her store at about 6.30pm.
Sakpra was abducted after dropping off her salesgirl when her captors blocked her vehicle at Cross and Stop Junction in Udu and was whisked to an unknown destination.
A police source reported at the weekend that, “the victim was whisked to an unknown destination by the hoodlums on her way home after dropping one of her sales girls along the expressway.
According to the source, “the hoodlums went away with the victim in her car which was recovered the following day along the Uvwiamughe-Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area”.
Udu youths under the aegis of Udu Youth Council (UYC) have appealed to the kidnappers to release Mrs. Sakpra unhurt, just as they described the rate of kidnapping in the area as alarming. “We are also calling on the security agencies to do their utmost to find Mrs. Sakpra without any further delay so as to reunite her with her family.”
Mr. Otito Yembra, president of the group in said: “The abduction of Chief Sakpra’s wife was not only a cowardly act by desperate characters that seek to profit from their criminal conduct, but also a sore reminder of the growing resurgence of criminality as it concerns the despicable and anti-social kidnapping industry in Urhobo land and Udu in particular.”
