The nation’s campaigners, the Eagles outclassed the East African challengers, the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia 2-0 in the playoffs decided at the UJ Esuene Stadium, on Saturday to advance to the World Cup on 4-1 aggregate win.

Imoke said the Nigerians showed their supremacy over the East African foes and will play even better at the global football fiesta.

“I’m excited playing host to the Super Eagles as they qualify Nigeria for Brazil 2014 World Cup, Calabar and Nigerians are excited and I think our commitment to football has paid off immensely.

“The Eagles played excellent game today (Saturday) and I’ve no doubt in my mind that they’ll play better in Brazil come 2014.

“The achievement of today (Saturday) must be shared by the state, Nigeria Football Federation, Sports Ministry and the National Sports Commission.

“We look forward to 2014 as a good year for Nigeria to win its first World Cup title in Brazil,” Imoke said to supersport.com.

The Cross River State capital, Calabar has virtually hosted all Super Eagles matches in the 2014 World Cup qualification as well as the matches of the reigning Under-17 world champions, Golden Eaglets.
