Nigeria continues to do itself proud at the AJC Qualifiers with no less than six of the nations players making it to their respective finals in the week-long event.  Both the Boys and Girls under-16 finals will be contested by young Nigerians at the Confederation of African Tennis sanctioned event, thus securing both the gold and silver medals. The Boys under-16 final will feature Michael Michael and Sylvester Emmanuel.

Meanwhile, in the Girls under-16 final, Zainab Oladimeji will face Elizabeth Pam. Pam flew all the way from London to play for her home country, and the fact that she has reached the final justifies her decision.

Nigerians Peter Lawal and Christopher Itodo will compete in the under-14 final for the gold medal.

Two weeks prior to the tournament, the Nigeria Tennis Federation moved some of its administration to Lagos in order to facilitate the preparation of the players. The result, according to National Junior Tennis coach Mohammed Ubale, has been astounding.
"Our preparation for this championship has really been excellent and it really brings out the best in the performance of our players. The support we have been getting really drives the passion and commitment of the players," Ubale said.

Whatever the outcome of the finals, the results confirm that Nigeria will have one of the largest representations at the AJC event in Kenya in a few months time.
